NJ Area Observatories and Planetariums having Public Programs
Observatories
- Robinson Observatory
at Vorhees State Park, High Bridge, in Hunterdon County, NJ.
Programs are conducted by the New Jersey Astronomical Association.
The observatory houses a 26-inch telescope and is open to the public on specified
Saturday evenings.
- Sheep Hill Observatory
in Boonton, Morris County, NJ. Programs are conducted by the Sheep Hill Astronomical
Association. The observatory houses an 18-inch reflecting telscope
and is open to the public on specified Friday evenings.
- Simpson Observatory
at Washington Crossing State Park, Mercer County, NJ. Programs are conducted by the Amateur Astronomers'
Association of Princeton. The observatory houses a 14-inch reflector and a 6-inch
refractor and is open to the public on specified
Fridays from March to October.
- Sperry Observatory
at Union County College, Cranford, Union County, NJ. Programs are conducted by Amateur Astronomers,
Inc. The observatory houses a 24-inch reflector and a 10-inch refractor and is
open to the public on Fridays evenings year around.
- UACNJ Observatory
at Jenny Jump State Forest, Warren County, NJ. Programs are conducted by the
the United Astronomy Clubs of New Jersey.
The facility has 4 operating observatories of which the Greenwood Observatory
housing a 16-inch reflecting telescope is open to the public.
Public programs with astronomy lecture is open every Saturday evening from
April through October.
